Yasuni Lodges Ecuador
Yasuni National Park is the largest national park in Ecuador, with an impressive area of rainforest. If you are in Quito you can visit this park ‘easy’ as it is only 250 kilometers away. Because the nature of the park is so special, Yasuni National Park was included on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1989. Two indigenous tribes also live here, the Tagaeri and the Taromenane.
This is certainly not the only thing that makes the park so special, because no less than a third of all Amazon species and 60 percent of the felines live in the Yasuni National Park.

Wild Animals
In terms of wildlife, there is quite a bit to see in Yasuni National Park. Because you are in the middle of the Amazon, it is full of special wild animals. In fact, the park is known as one of the most versatile areas in the world when it comes to biodiversity. During a boat trip you have the chance to encounter caimans, for example, but jaguars, anacondas and monkeys also live on the mainland. In addition, you have many colorful birds here, such as toucans and hummingbirds, and if you look closely you will encounter the most special insect species.
Indigenous tribes
What makes a visit to Yasuni National Park extra special is a possible encounter with the local Indian tribes. The park is still inhabited by two indigenous tribes: the Tagaeri tribe and the Taromenane tribe. Although they come into regular contact with the modern Ecuadorian population and tourists, they still largely live by traditional standards. During a visit to the park you have the chance to meet members of the tribe and get acquainted with their culture. These locals are happy to show you what their life in the jungle looks like.
Observationtower
The literal pinnacle of Yasuni National Park is the Cury Mullo Observation Tower. This 50 meter high observation tower offers a fantastic view over the park and its inhabitants. From here you have a spectacular overview of the treetops and with binoculars you can spot different animals. Watch monkeys nest in the treetops and look for colorful bird species hiding in the forest canopy.
Stay overnight in a lodge
To experience the park in all its glory, it is recommended to take a few days for a visit. Take at least three days to look around and make trips, because there is plenty to see. You can spend the night at a number of places in the park, but you must book in time if you want to be sure of a bed. There are a few beautifully situated ecolodges, where you fall asleep with jungle sounds in the background and can join various jungle tours and excursions.

Cuyabeno Lodges Ecuador
The Cuyabeno Game Reserve is without a doubt one of Ecuador’s most beautiful rainforest areas. The park received the status of a protected area in 1979 and is now about 600,000 hectares in size.
The area consists for a large part of tidal forest; in the (short) dry season it is a ‘normal’ rainforest, but when the water level of the rivers starts to rise with the onset of the rainy season, large parts are flooded. The views over the immense lakes with the reflections of the forest and the characteristic Marcolobium trees make Cuyabeno a particularly beautiful rainforest park from a landscape point of view.

Wild Animals
The Cuyabeno Amazon Reserve in Ecuador is also home to a very wide variety of fauna.
Wildlife that roams the vast lands of the reserve include: tapirs, ocelots, bats, jaguars, pumas, capybaras, anteaters, armadillos, peccaries, poison dart frogs, agoutis, iguanas and fifteen different monkey species.
Through its maze of waters swim among others: turtles, anacondas, pink freshwater dolphins, giant otters, manatees (used to be regularly seen, but now very rare), five species of caimans and many different types of fish, including the famous piranha.
In addition, more than five hundred different bird species live in the Cuyabeno reserve! This makes Cuyabeno one of the best places in the world for bird watching! Keep your eyes peeled for the kingfisher, hoatzin, colorful woodpeckers, parrots and hummingbirds, tanagers, macaws, toucans and even the Harpy eagle
Indigenous tribes
The Cuyabeno Lodge is the oldest jungle lodge within the Cuyabeno National Park and one of the oldest in the Amazon region. It is managed by the international conservationists who have helped establish and protect the park in collaboration with the Siona Indians. So you can travel around with the indigenous within the Amazon region. The lodge is located in a beautiful spot on a peninsula on Lake Cuyabeno.
Cuyabeno lakes
The Cuyabeno Amazon Reserve in Ecuador comprises ‘only’ 6,100 km2 of tropical rainforest. Yet this reserve is home to one of the largest concentrations of flora and fauna in the world. This is caused by a complex system of different water formations in combination with the unique location. The reserve is located in a basin between the Andes Mountains and the Amazon jungle.
This ‘bowl’ of Cuyabeno includes the Aguarico, San Miguel, the Cuyabeno River and their tributaries. In addition, you will find 14 ‘black-water lakes’ in Cuyabeno, which are formed by flooding during the rainy season.

Visitors to the Cuyabeno Reserve are often impressed by its remoteness.
The jungle alternately and combined forms a dense green wall and a maze of mighty rivers and small streams. Life is all around you in the Cuyabeno Reserve and you will notice that it is never quiet. There are many lodges in the Cuyabeno reserve, all of which offer different tours and possibilities. There are options for every budget!
